What is Mother’s Day like for Rebecca?
Years ago, my husband, Derek, started a Mother’s Day tradition that we all look forward to each year. In Chagrin Falls, our growing season is shorter than more Southern locations and the perfect time to plant both annuals and perennials falls right in line with Mother’s Day. I think Derek realized early on in our marriage that the plants were going to be purchased no matter what, so why not take advantage of an opportunity and make the annual plant purchase my Mother’s Day gift? The first year he suggested the idea, Derek, Lizzie and I took the horse trailer and filled it up with the season’s plants and planting material. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Whatever colors I wanted and needed, I got to pick everything out just so. It’s been such a fun tradition that every year, we still plan for a special family outing day to fill up on all the beautiful blooms the season has to offer.
